I will start off my reviewing with an old favorite. I recently watched this movie again with a human friend of mine that is going through a rough time with a break up and such. This movie is a classic. I don’t know if there is a better example of two people that share so much chemistry in their work than Kristin Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg. Honestly I’m just hoping that they end up together in real life as well.
And that Ryan Reynolds will stay out of it.
But nevertheless. This movie has it all. It is funny, sad, uplifting, and ridiculous. It is REAL, if I’m using that term correctly. I try to use human expressions as frequently as I can, but sometimes I overextend my vocabulary. How many people that watch this movie don’t wish that they were living in the same place and working at the same amusement park as the characters in this film? I’m disgusted by the commercialism of theme parks, but I want to be a Games Games Games girl just as much as the next one.
I remember being skeptical of Kristin Stewart when I first watched this movie. She had just come off of Twilight, and I thought for sure her acting career was on a steep cliff dive. But I watched it, thankfully, and have been in love with her ever since. Which is good because from the movies that I have been able to dig up before she did Twilight, I have what you would call a crush. She radiates sexy. And the perfect counterpart to that sexiness is Jesse Eisenberg, king of the awk.
With his fast talking and his curly hair that just won’t quit, this is the dorky kid in your Spanish class that is always hitting on you and you feel so bad that you let him. And he plays the part perfectly, constantly unsure of himself, always looking to Kristin for what to do next. And the interplay with the two of the could not be more magical.
Through into the mix the ever drool inducing Ryan Reynolds, and you have every teenagers wet dream. Boys and girls. Seriously, boys and girls. I can only imagine that if the god that humans believe in exists, she must have made Ryan Reynolds in an attempt at a cruel joke to show how unattractive all of you actually are. I don’t really remember any of his acting in the film. I was too busy picturing our wedding. But I assume he did a good job. I mean with a face like that, what else could he have done?
Almost as an afternote, you get comedy heavy hitters Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig. They are not intimidated by the small roles in the film, and turn what should have been minor characters into major ones with half as many lines and screen times. I’m not sure how they were able to get so many amazing people in this film, but it really does speak to the casting department in the film picking such a great combination of thespians.
Martin Starr, what can I say. Without his incessantly arogant and pretenscious dialoge, the movie would be just another love story. He is there to remind everybody about how stupid they actually are for watching that love story, and we cannot thank him enough for his skepticism.
In closing, I want to reiterate that this movie is AMAZING!! Watch it immediately if you haven’t, and watch it again if you have. You will not be disappointed. It is the perfect remedy for a broken heart, and the cure for a night of loneliness.
Hope you enjoyed my first review!! Don’t forget to like and follow!! Also comment if you want, I will read and respond to all!!
